For the best results, skip their meal before class or at least avoid feeding them for six hours prior—a slightly hungry pup is a focused pup! 🎽 Gear Up! Your dog should be wearing a flat collar and attached to a 6-foot flat leash for optimal control. 🚫 No Flexi Leashes, Please! They make training harder and less effective. I kick things off with positive reinforcement and canine body language communication to create a strong foundation. ⚖️ Balance is Key! If your pup gets a little too clever and starts counter-training me, I adjust my approach. That’s where Operant Conditioning comes in—helping to build a relationship based on both like and respect. 💡 Why Like & Respect Matter A dog that likes you but doesn’t respect you will treat you like a vending machine—taking advantage without listening. A dog that respects you but doesn’t like you may hide, run away, or act out in sneaky ways (like chewing your stuff, pooping in your shoe, or peeing in your bed!). 🎯 The End Goal? A perfectly balanced pup who listens because they want to, not because they have to. Once your dog is consistently responding to training, I’ll gradually phase out any training tools until their good behavior feels completely natural—like they never had issues in the first place! For our first session, I prefer to meet at a dog park—usually Reid Park—during the daytime. This provides a great environment for learning and socialization! After that, we can meet wherever is most convenient for you. Whether it’s your home, a park, or another location, we’ll find the perfect spot to help your pup succeed! 🐶🎯
